TRAINING

Whether racing or not, workouts at the track offer great fitness benefits.

Open Training

The only 10mph speed limit we have is a minimum on the banking!

Our regular open training sessions are open to all riders that have completed a track intro course and an up to date Waiver. We run it from Feb-Oct on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday evenings from 5:30pm-8pm. There is no requirement to schedule however check weather before travelling. Open sessions also occur on other days which will be posted on the track calendar. Some of these sessions will have a coach present offering a structured workout you are welcome to join but not all. If you are unsure what to do check out our track workouts.

Fee: $5, +$5 for Rental Bike if Rqd. You can pay on arrival using the QR Code Pay-Station or Drop Box located at the bottom of the officials tower.

Specialist & Coached Training

Fancy stuff...

We have the ability to offer Motorpacing and coached sessions on specific event skills. These will be posted on the track calendar. If you would like to arrange a specific skills clinic or session please get in touch and we'll see what we can do.

 

There may be an additional fee for use of certain equipment or coaching support.

Private Training

Workout like a pro...

Some track events require training that presents significant danger or suffers in quality in a open session environment such as Madison and Team Pursuit for example. If you would like to book a private session this can be done anytime the track isn't in use for open training or event. Please email us to schedule.

Sessions require minimum of 2 people present

Fee: $50/hr or free for season pass holders (non-season pass holders joining a season pass holder session will require to pay $5ea.

Track Bikes & Rentals

Need a bike...

If you haven't got your own track bike don't worry! We operate a fleet of maintained rental track bikes for use at training and racing.

Rental bikes are charged at $5 per session for adults and free for U18's. They are for use at Alkek Velodrome only.

Winter Training

Train all year...

From Nov 1st to Jan 31st training sessions are run dependent on volunteer availability and weather. These are open to riders that have completed a track intro course or YCL only. Check before travelling as weather cancellations are common. These sessions will be posted on the track calendar. During evenings and colder periods we advise taking a ski jacket or similar to wear between efforts.

Fee: $5, +$5 for Rental Bike if Rqd.
