Alkek Program Director Announcement
The Greater Houston Cycling Foundation and Alkek Velodrome are pleased to welcome Stuart Gardner as the new Alkek Velodrome Program Director. In this new role, Stuart will be handling many aspects of track management including: creating and maintaining the annual training and racing schedule, coordinating and managing our team of volunteers and officials, facilitating training sessions, and developing and implementing marketing plans to increase awareness of and participation at the velodrome.
A well-known and highly respected member of the Houston cycling community across all cycling disciplines, Stuart has been a member of the Alkek family of racers since moving to Houston in 2013. As a fit expert, accomplished mechanic, and racer, he brings an incredible depth of knowledge of cycling and marketing to the role of Program Director.
Stuart completed his formal education in 2006 with a degree in Sport and Exercise Sciences (BSc hons) from the University of Leeds (UK) and subsequently worked in a wide range of fields including sport and leisure, banking, law enforcement and cycling retail.
The Greater Houston Cycling Foundation is excited to have Stuart take on this new role to help grow interest in track cycling and racing and maintain Alkek’s reputation as the premiere cycling venue in Houston. Please join us in welcoming Stuart into this new role.
I am honored to be able to take on the role of Program Director at Alkek Velodrome. The Alkek is a great facility and has a fantastic community I have really enjoyed being part of. I am keen to grow the track cycling community in Houston by providing a program of events at Alkek that fulfils the needs of the whole spectrum of track riders while providing the necessary support to our amazing volunteer network who make it all possible.
