Youth Rider/Racer Development and Youth Cycling League at the Alkek Velodrome
The Youth Cycling League is postponed for October – November
The Alkek Velodrome is all about track cycling being a launching point and constant development opportunity for youth cycling. The Alkek Youth Cycling League has been the beginning point of many Regional, State, National Team Members, and National Champions. We are devoted to the success of our youth program as it is the future of our sport. The direction of our Youth programs this year will be no different. We will strive for the same excellence, and strive for a more all-year consistency in programming for our youth riders, but the safety of our youth cyclists and staff is a priority.
Given the pandemic and Covid19 numbers in the Houston area for 2020-2021 Alkek Velodrome youth programs will occur, although we may have to adjust the timing of our events based on the infection rates going down. Because of the nature of teaching a new rider class, we cannot be socially distant and we there is too much contact as we check out and exchange equipment. So, we must postpone our Youth League class for later in the summer or early in the Fall. For the 2020 season:
Lawson Craddock Youth Cycling League Camp – tentatively October-November 2020
Monthly youth and new rider introduction classes – tentatively October-December
Weekday training on Tuesday and Thursday is for experienced riders only. As per our Covid rules, preregistration is required. There are no rentals or riding instruction available during these sessions
All events are proposed and can be moved forward or pushed back based on the conditions in the Greater Houston Area.
Stay safe and healthy so we can come back faster!
