Youth Rider/Racer Development and Youth Cycling League at the Alkek Velodrome
The Youth Cycling League is postponed for October – November
The Alkek Velodrome is all about track cycling being a launching point and constant development opportunity for youth and adult cycling. The Alkek Velodrome has been the beginning point of many Regional, State, National Team Members, and National Champions. We are devoted to the success of our development programs as it is the future of our sport. The direction of our programs this year intends to be no different. We will strive for the same excellence, and strive for a more all-year consistency in programming for our riders, but the safety of our riders and staff is a priority.
Due to COVID-19 numbers in the Houston area for 2020-2021 Alkek Velodrome our programs will need to change, although we may just have to adjust the structure and timing of our events based on the infection rates. Because of the nature of teaching a new rider class, we cannot be socially distant and there is too much contact as we check out and exchange equipment so currently we cannot hold these. However we do hope to be able to run events in fall.
Lawson Craddock Youth Cycling League Camp – tentatively October-November 2020
Monthly youth and new rider introduction classes – tentatively October-December
Limited weekday training is for experienced riders only. As per our COVID-19 rules, preregistration is required. There are no rentals available during these sessions. A basic intro can be completed for riders who have their own bike and are comfortable riding it. Please contact info@alkekvelodrome for more information.
Stay safe and healthy so we can come back faster!
